Sustainable Performance Shorts Layer : Mountainsilk™ Procycle
Both our men's bibs and women's shorts are made from Mountainsilk™ Procycle. Mountainsilk™ Procycle maximises the performance potential of the wearer, by promoting the balanced regulation of body temperature while providing superior protection and comfort in competitive, extreme conditions. At the core of Mountainsilk™ Procycle is an inner base layer of 100% sustainably* sourced Merino, which is linked with a protective outer-layer of technical performance tactel blended with lycra.
*ZQUE Certified.

“I have been researching and developing sustainable sportswear for the last 10 years since I gained a Master of Arts specialising in Performance Sportswear Design. Using the latest high performance textile technology we have designed our shorts and bibs to be just as comfortable whether you are riding on a scorching hot day or if you get caught out in the mountains in the middle of winter, as you can face any kind of weather situation on your bike. Training all winter for a five day stage race known for it’s terribly fickle weather, it became really important to me to design a short that would keep me both cool and comfortable, or warm and toasty, so it doesn’t matter what the weather conditions throw at you.”
– Untouched World™ Design Director, Emily Dean.

The Benefits of Mountainsilk™ Procycle
  • Temperature regulation – Mountainsilk™ Procycle creates its own microclimate next to your skin, constantly working to keep your temperature in perfect balance. In a hot dry environment, Mountainsilk™ Procycle is ideal as it slows the rate of evaporation of body water, keeping you cool and comfortable. In colder weather, Mountainsilk™ Procycle draws excess moisture away from your body through thousands of microporous cells, and expels it keeping you warm and dry.
  • Moisture management – Each individual Merino fibre in Mountainsilk™ Procycle is coated in a natural, water repellent, wax-like substance that actively moves moisture from your skin to the microporous outer-fabric structure, delivering optimal breathability. This means you stay a lot drier much longer than in other fabrics.
  • Wind resistant - Mountainsilk™ Procycle is wind resistant, preventing the effect of wind-chill on the body’s vital temperature control mechanisms, thereby reducing wind-induced stress and associated exhaustion.
  • Anti-microbial – Mountainsilk™ Procycle is machine washable, but you won’t need to wash it as much as other fabrics, because it is naturally anti-microbial, meaning it stays fresh for longer and resists smells.
  • Compression performance – Mountainsilk™ Procycle has a high percentage of lycra, to ensure a firm compression fit. The compression fit is designed to support your muscles, leading to delayed fatigue.
  • Durable – Mountainsilk™ Procycle is highly abrasion resistant, and keeps its shape after a lifetime of wear.
  • UV resistant – Mountainsilk™ Procycle has naturally built-in UV resistance - essential protection for your skin from the sun’s harmful rays.
  • Soft to wear – The special qualities of Mountainsilk™ Procycle lie in its softness and strength with no itch or prickle.
