Our Materials

CoolTree™

Our blend of TENCEL™ fibres and merino wool creates a luxurious yarn that is beautiful to wear and is easy on the earth.

We’ve blended nature’s most versatile fibre, ZQRX™ accredited merino, with refreshing TENCEL™ to create a silky-soft, trans seasonal fabric. TENCEL™ is a natural, man-made fibre derived from sustainably farmed eucalyptus trees in certified and controlled forests. The fibres are extracted from the wood using a unique closed-loop system that recovers and reuses the solvents used, minimising the environmental impact of production.

This fibre combination produces silky, soft knitwear that you can wear all year round. Plus, both merino and TENCEL™ are entirely biodegradable, so they will fully revert back to nature at the end of their lives.

To achieve such a beautiful fine-gauge knit, each CoolTree™ piece is ethically made in Vietnam by a talented team that receives a living wage and enjoys a happy, healthy working environment. Our Vietnam suppliers have earned Platinum status under both the US Green Building Council (LEEDS) and the Vietnamese LOTUS accreditation system, making it Vietnam's very first LEEDS accredited plant.

Our Suppliers

Vietnam

Our Vietnam suppliers are Betterwork certified, a UN and IFC-backed programme that upholds fair working conditions and labour rights across the garment industry.

Their manufacturing complex is Vietnam's first LEED Platinum accredited plant, running on 30% renewable energy, harvesting rainwater to cut production water use by 60%, and growing fresh produce on a rooftop garden for staff meals. Workers earn a living wage in a clean, accessible, well-ventilated environment.

In mid-2024, our General Manager visited in person — and came back impressed. Happy staff, high standards, and sustainability claims we can personally stand behind. Exactly the kind of partners we're proud to work with.

Glenthorne Station

Just over an hour from our Christchurch headquarters is Glenthorne Station, a 25,090 hectare sheep and cattle station nestled on the shores of Lake Coleridge. Glenthorne has been a highly valued supply chain partner and the source of 90% of the merino wool we use in our collections. Their landscape is a sweeping mix of high-country mountains, developed foothills, and intensive flats — home to some 7,000 merino sheep roaming freely across the land.

B1G1

Through our partnership with B1G1, for every CoolTree™ garment purchased, families in Ethiopia are given access to clean drinking water. This small act is a big step that empowers people with hope for tomorrow. B1G1 is an initiative that enables businesses to give back by doing what they usually do. B1G1 offers over 500 projects, ranging from health to education, which companies can support to integrate giving into their business. And even better, it comes at no extra cost to you.
