Plant-based Fibres

Born from nature, our plant based blends are better for you and the planet. Soft and nourishing on your skin, they are free of any nasties and they return gently to the earth at the end of their life. 

Linen

Derived from flax plants, this low-impact fibre has timeless good looks and durability. 

Why it's good for you:

  • Kind on skin — Linen feels beautiful against your skin.
  • Moisture management — Linen will keep you cool and fresh in hot weather and is also very absorbent.
  • Style — Linen drapes beautifully and will develop a soft lustre over time.
  • Easy care — Our linen styles are designed to be easy to look after. If you don't mind a naturally crinkled look, the iron can stay in the cupboard.

Why it's good for the planet:

  • Low impact — Flax requires very little water and minimal fertiliser compared to cotton and there is no complex chemical process required in extracting linen fibres.
  • Long-lasting — As linen is strong and durable, it lasts, ulimtately reducing consumption.

Soybean

Derived from the protein found in the hull of organic soybeans, this exceptionally soft fibre turns a by-product from the food industry into something beautiful.

Why it's good for you:

  • Soft as silk — Soybean fabric is known as vegetable cashmere due to its beautifully soft handle.
  • Light and breathable — Exceptionally light, soybean breathes well to keep you dry and comfortable.
  • Wrinkle resistant — This sustainable fabric resists wrinkling so you can keep your iron in the cupboard.
  • Skin friendly — Soybean has unique botanic properties that no other fibre possesses. On contact the amino acids in the soybean can activate collagen protein which is great for the skin.
  • Anti-bacterial — Being naturally antibacterial and UV resistant, soybean protects against odour and the sun’s harmful rays.
  • Easy care — Easy to wash and fast drying, soybean is an ideal fabric for summer.

Why it's good for the planet:

  • Reducing waste — A by-product of the food industry that would otherwise be wasted, our soybean fabric is one of the world's most eco-friendly fabrics.
  • Biodegradable — Soybean fabric can be returned to the earth and will decompose naturally.

Aloe Vera

Made from the leaves of the Saharan Aloe Vera cactus, this silky fabric is created by crushing the leaves, then soaking them in water to extract the fibre.

Why it's good for you:

  • Soft on skin — It's silky smooth and soft on your skin.
  • Temperature regulating — This breathable fibre will keep you comfortable in changeable weather.
  • Moisture management — Aloe vera has has excellent moisture management properties to keep you fresh and dry.

Why it's good for the planet:

  • Biodegradable — Aloe vera can be returned to the earth and will decompose naturally.
  • Low impact — Aloe vera requires very little water to grow and regulations put in place mean that treatments such as pesticides and insecticides are avoided and/or banned from production by most growers.

TENCEL™

Soft, breathable and renewable, TENCEL™ (lyocell) is a cellulose fibre extracted from sustainably grown wood in a unique closed loop system.

Why it's good for you:

  • Soft on skin — It's silky smooth and soft on your skin.
  • Temperature regulating — TENCEL™ fibres are breathable to keep you comfortable in changeable weather.
  • Moisture management — It has excellent moisture management properties, being 50% more absorbent to moisture than cotton, so you'll stay dry and fresh.

Why it's good for the planet:

  • Low impact — TENCEL™ fibres require very little water to grow.
  • Sustainably sourced — We source our TENCEL™ fibres from Lenzing who care deeply about sustainability and use closed loop production processes.
  • Natural — TENCEL™ fibres are naturally white, eliminating the need for bleach.
  • Biodegradable — At the end of their life cycle TENCEL™ fibres will decompose back into their original components of CO2 and water, benefitting the ground from which new plants can grow.

We've combined nature's most transeasonal fibre ZQ™ merino, with breathable TENCEL™ to bring you silky soft knitwear you can wear all year round.

Bemberg

To line our wool coats and jackets we use Bemberg, which is made from the raw material of unused cotton seed linter, known as Cupro (the fuzzy bit around the cotton seed). This is the regenerated cellulose fibre around the cotton seed that is usually discarded in the production of cotton.

Why it's good for you:

  • Breathable — Bemberg has excellent moisture management properties to wick sweat away from the body.
  • Durable — While it has a similar look and feel to silk, Bemberg is a more durable alternative.
  • Anti-static — Bemberg slides on and off effortlessly for a more comfortable fit.

Why it's good for the planet…

  • Renewable and biodegradable — Bemberg is a by-product of a renewable material, it not only helps to minimise waste but it naturally returns to the earth and decomposes naturally in the soil.
