About the Role

  • Work confidently with a variety of natural fibres, ensuring optimal results across diverse yarn types and garment styles.
  • Collaborate closely with designers to translate creative concepts into technically sound, high-quality knitwear.
  • Demonstrate discipline in work habits, consistently taking samples through to production-ready stage.
  • Effectively manage multiple styles simultaneously, maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
  • Work collaboratively with our knitting team to ensure seamless execution and alignment across all stages of development.
  • Use SDS-ONE APEX systems to develop, simulate, and refine knitwear designs with precision.
  • Develop knitwear styles to meet agreed costing and budgets regarding knitting efficiencies.
  • Troubleshoot programming and machine issues with a proactive, solution-focused approach.
  • Maintain a positive, can-do attitude while working independently and as part of a team.

Program and operate Shima Seiki machines: 8G XS, SWG X, SIR, SVR, SGW-X 12G, 2S and M213VS18G.

  • Use SDS-ONE APEX systems to develop and refine knitwear designs.
  • Ability to create and manipulate 2D patterns and simulations.
  • Familiarity with converting 2D designs into knit-ready data.
  • Troubleshoot and help maintain machine performance.
  • Collaborate with design and production teams.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience with Shima Seiki programming and machine operation.
  • Proficiency in APEX3/4 software.
  • Experience programming for wholegarment machines.
  • Understanding of knit structures (e.g., jacquard, intarsia, rib, tuck)
  • Yarn types, gauges, and fabric behaviour in simulation. Strong experience working with natural fibre yarns would be an advantage.
  • Detail-oriented with a problem-solving mindset.
